The Department combines
classroom instruction, research experience, and service
learning to provide students a full-range view of the issues addressed by
sociologists. Students participate in a variety of "hands-on" activities,
including:
- designing
and conducting survey research,
- working
in the field in correctional facilities,
- interviewing
research subjects and analyzing their responses, and
- travelling
abroad to learn about other culture.

professional school, public health and policy research, and social service
work in an array of settings both here and abroad.
