Clinical Interventions with Families:

Publications in Family Intervention

Family systems models are not a ‘traditional’ paradigm in Clinical Psychology- are they effective interventions?

Is there evidence that distressed family relationships are associated with clinical problems? Is there evidence that modifying family relationships might reduce clinical problems? What are the factors that are associated with effective family interventions? These publications reflect a programmatic development of a family intervention model, tested and supported empirically. Each of these studies or descriptions of a family intervention model contribute to its development.

Students’ Senior Theses in Family Intervention

How have Davidson students tried to understand Family Psychology and Family Intervention?

Several students have ventured into the complicated terrain of studying the nature of relationships and communication. These data are sophisticated to collect, code, and analyze statistically. Some of these studies have sought to understand the roles of gender and relationship history as determinants of communication and emotional reactions. In other studies students have performed text analyses of interviews or administered internet-based surveys to try and understand parenting roles and discipline.
