Molly Barnes '09
Molly Barnes is a junior music major and a native of Davidson, NC. Growing up in Davidson, she has been involved in music at Davidson College Presbyterian Church and North Mecklenburg High School. She studied violin privately with Paul Huppert before beginning lessons with the Artist Associate in Violin at Davidson, Martha Koljonen.
Her interest in music grew immensely during the four years she played in the North Mecklenburg High School Orchestra and University of North Carolina at Charlotte Youth Orchestra, both under the direction of Dr. Lynda Pickney.
At Davidson, Molly plays in the Davidson College Symphony Orchestra (DCSO) and The Concord Quartet, a student string quartet of DCSO members. She also sings in the Davidson College Concert Choir. In addition to the scholarly study of music, Molly enjoys drawing and painting, and hopes to take more courses at Davidson in anthropology and philosophy.
