Matt Petit '08
Matt Petit is a sophomore Music and Political Science double major from St. Petersburg, FL who attends Davidson on the Donald C. Plott Music Scholarship. Matt has played trombone since the fourth grade and has performed with 4 Florida All-State Orchestras as well as the Pinellas Youth Symphony and the Pinellas Brass quintet and choir while studying under Harold van Schaik of The Florida Orchestra.
In addition to playing principal trombone in the DCSO and DCBQ, Matt tries to take advantage of every solo opportunity he can find. Under the tutelage of Brian French, he was recently named one of the winners of the 2006 Concerto Competition, and performed Lars-Erik Larsson’s Concertino with the DCSO in February.
Matt plans to study diplomacy and international relations after graduating from Davidson, but would like nothing more than to keep music as his passion throughout life. He has found the College Music Department to be a great asset to both his musical and personal development and thanks them greatly.
