The Major in Music

The Major in Music allows students to immerse themeselves in the study of music, either as an integral part of their experience in a liberal-arts college, or as preparation for graduate studies in music.

At the heart of the music major is a core of three courses in tonal theory (MUS 201, 202 & 302) and two courses in music history (MUS 325 & 328). Additionally, the major will elect one course from music in the U.S. or world music, three additional courses at the 200 level or above, and Senior Seminar.

Music majors participate in both large and small ensembles, benefit from an active Concert Series, and have the opportunity to receive private instrumental or voice instruction from the best teachers in the Charlotte region.
